Explanation

A Whipple procedure is a type of surgery often used to treat pancreatic cancer. In this operation, the surgeon removes the head of the pancreas, and sometimes the body of the pancreas, as well as parts of the stomach, small intestine, and other nearby areas. After these parts are removed, the remaining parts of the pancreas, stomach, and intestines are reconnected to allow for digestion and absorption of food.
