TTC staining

What does "TTC staining" mean in a report or doctor's letter? In our medical dictionary, you will find a patient-friendly explanation of the meaning of this medical term.

Explanation

TTC staining is a method used in medical research to help visualize and measure damage in certain tissues, particularly the heart and brain. TTC, or triphenyl tetrazolium chloride, is a red dye that reacts with living cells, causing them to change color. This allows scientists to clearly see which areas of the tissue are healthy and which are not. The areas that don't stain are usually the ones that have been damaged or have died.
