Transitional cell carcinoma

Explanation

Transitional cell carcinoma is a type of cancer that primarily affects the urinary system, which includes the bladder, kidneys, and the tubes that connect them. It gets its name from the transitional cells that line these organs, which can change shape and stretch without breaking apart. When these cells grow out of control, they can form a tumor and lead to cancer. This is the most common type of bladder cancer and can also be found in the renal pelvis, which is the top part of the ureter in the kidney.
