Tendinosis

What does "Tendinosis" mean in a report or doctor's letter? In our medical dictionary, you will find a patient-friendly explanation of the meaning of this medical term.

Explanation

Tendinosis refers to a condition where a tendon, which is a strong cord that connects muscles to bones, is damaged or worn out over time. This damage is not due to an immediate injury, but rather from long-term overuse or aging. A low-grade longitudinal interstitial tear is a small, lengthwise tear within the tendon, but it's not severe. The subscapularis tendon mentioned is one of the four tendons that make up the shoulder joint.
