Explanation

Osteoarthritis is a common type of arthritis that happens when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of your bones wears down over time. This wear and tear can cause pain, stiffness, and swelling in the joints, most often affecting the hands, knees, hips, and spine. It's often associated with aging, but can also be caused by joint injuries or obesity. There's currently no cure, but there are treatments to help manage the symptoms.
