Explanation

Fundoplication is a surgical procedure used to treat problems with the stomach and esophagus, the tube that connects your mouth to your stomach. During this operation, the upper part of the stomach is wrapped around the lower part of the esophagus. This helps prevent stomach acid from moving up into the esophagus, which can cause heartburn and other discomfort. It's often performed on people who have conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
