Explanation

The extensor hallucis longus tendon is a part of the body found in the lower leg and foot. It's a long, thin muscle that helps in moving the big toe and in helping the foot to point downwards or stand on tiptoes. This tendon runs down the front of the leg, across the top of the foot, and attaches to the base of the big toe. If this tendon is injured, it can cause pain and difficulty in moving the big toe or foot.
