Cystourethroscopy

What does "Cystourethroscopy" mean in a report or doctor's letter? In our medical dictionary, you will find a patient-friendly explanation of the meaning of this medical term.

Explanation

Cystourethroscopy is a medical procedure that allows doctors to examine the inside of a person's bladder and urethra. The urethra is the tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body. During this procedure, a thin, flexible tube with a camera on the end, called a cystoscope, is inserted into the urethra and then into the bladder. This allows the doctor to see these areas clearly and check for any problems.
