Colonic transposition

What does "Colonic transposition" mean in a report or doctor's letter? In our medical dictionary, you will find a patient-friendly explanation of the meaning of this medical term.

Explanation

Colonic transposition is a medical procedure where a part of the colon, which is a part of the large intestine, is moved to a different location in the body. This is usually done when a part of the digestive tract, like the esophagus or stomach, is not working properly or has to be removed due to disease. The moved part of the colon then takes over the function of the removed or non-functioning part, helping the patient to eat and digest food normally.
