Explanation

A chalazion is a small, usually painless, lump or swelling that appears on your eyelid. It's caused by a blocked oil gland in the eyelid and can develop on the upper or lower eyelid. It might start as an internal stye (when an oil gland gets infected), then turn into a chalazion. If a chalazion gets large enough, it can cause trouble with your vision.
