Cardiac chambers

What does "Cardiac chambers" mean in a report or doctor's letter? In our medical dictionary, you will find a patient-friendly explanation of the meaning of this medical term.

Explanation

Cardiac chambers are the spaces inside the heart that help pump blood throughout the body. The human heart has four of these chambers: two on the top called atria and two on the bottom called ventricles. The atria receive blood coming into the heart, while the ventricles pump blood out of the heart. These chambers work together to keep blood flowing in the right direction and at the right pace.
