Explanation

Blood pressure is a measure of the force that your heart uses to pump blood around your body. It is usually given as two numbers - the first number, known as systolic pressure, shows the force at which your heart pumps blood out when it beats. The second number, known as diastolic pressure, shows the resistance to the blood flow in the blood vessels when the heart is at rest between beats.
