Explanation

Amniotic fluid is a clear, yellowish liquid that surrounds a baby inside the mother's womb during pregnancy. It serves several important functions such as providing a cushion to protect the baby from injury, helping in the development of the baby's lungs, digestive system, and muscles, and maintaining a constant temperature in the womb. The fluid also allows the baby to move around, which aids in bone growth. It is contained in a sac, which usually breaks when a woman is about to give birth, an event often referred to as 'water breaking'.
