AC Separation Revision

What does "AC Separation Revision" mean in a report or doctor's letter? In our medical dictionary, you will find a patient-friendly explanation of the meaning of this medical term.

Explanation

AC Separation Revision is a medical term referring to a second surgery to fix a previously unsuccessful operation on the shoulder. The AC, or acromioclavicular joint, is where the collarbone meets the highest point of the shoulder blade. A separation of this joint is a common sports injury. If the first surgery to repair this separation doesn't work or causes other problems, a second surgery, or "revision", may be needed.
